Fans Turn Out To Celebrate the Cardinals Final Four Run

That 4th Street Live was painted red was evident from blocks away — by the large inflatable Louisville Cardinals logo that greeted people at the gate, by the red T-shirts, red jackets, red hats.

And by the cheers that emanated from a city street filled with fans: “C-A-R-D-S, go Cards go.”

Fans packed the downtown entertainment district Tuesday to celebrate the Louisville Cardinals men’s basketball team’s NCAA Final Four appearance and Big East Tournament championship, with Coach Rick Pitino and the players thanking the crowd for their support.

Brothers Brock and Bryan Rogers, both of Jeffersontown, showed up as quickly as they could after work but still couldn’t wade through the crowd for a good vantage point. They were relegated to the rear of the stage.

It didn’t matter, the brothers said, because they got to see the team get off a bus and onto the stage.

“You’ve got to support the Cards,” Brock Rogers said. “You never know when you’re going to get a Final Four.”

“Hopefully, next year,” Bryan Rogers chimed in.

Thanks to DFW Louisville Alumni and Fans

Due to some unavoidable scheduling conflicts, this message is coming out several days later than we would have liked.

However, we definitely wanted to acknowledge and thank our local alumni and friends for the tremendous support provided both to the UofL DFW Alumni Club and the Cardinals during their exhilirating NCAA Final Four run.

The Bluegrass Armageddon Game Watch on Saturday March 31 was likely the best-attended game watch in club history, with nearly 30 Louisville alumni and fans present, including some first-timers (special thanks to those folks). And we had good crowds at the West Regional game watches as well.

A big shout-out is also due to Buffalo Wild Wings, the official home for University of Louisville game watches in Dallas-Ft. Worth. Their management and wait staff went above and beyond to provide tremendous support to our club, and we are truly grateful.

While the end result of the Cardinals' tournament play was disappointing, we were all reminded how our common connections to the university can make us closer.
